Sad end for Wicklow Brave in American Grand National
After falling from the Grand National in Far Hills on Saturday evening wicklow Brave Unfortunately lost his life.
The Willie Mullins-trained 10-year-old that is notable was on the verge of adding another win when he fell with all the race in his mercy in the last.
The Brain Power of nicky Henderson went on to land the spoils.
An winner of 17 of his 59 races, he also won the St Leger under Frankie Dettori at 2016, the 2015 County Hurdle along with the 2017 Punchestown Champion Hurdle.
A statement posted on the Far Hills Twitter account read:Wicklow Brave fell at the last fence of the Grand National. NJ State Veterinarian Dr. Stacey Romano reported that he sustained a fractured right shoulder and has been transported to the stable place, where he was euthanized.
Far Hills race assembly chairman Guy Torsilieri said:We are sad to have lost such a champion today. Our thoughts are with all both the racing area, their relations and the lovers and Wicklow Braves owners. It was heartbreaking for many people.
